Processing & Preservation

THE QUALITY LINK

Where the harvested seed becomes certified seed.

Processing and preservation are critical steps in ensuring quality, food safety, traceability, and added value for production. It is in this area that we strengthen control mechanisms and responsiveness throughout the value chain.

With the commissioning of the new seed treatment and bagging unit, meeting international quality standards, the final module of our Seed Processing Unit has been completed—a technological leap that has repositioned Jardins da Yoba as a benchmark in Angola.

The Seed Processing Unit represents a true technological leap and a clear example of innovation applied to agriculture in Angola.

It is at UBS that we carry out the processing, treatment, calibration, and bagging of seeds before their certification and commercialization. The unit incorporates state-of-the-art treatment solutions and introduces the possibility of bagging 60,000 seeds per bag — typically used for hybrid corn seed — as an alternative to the traditional 25 kg bags.

THE TECHNOLOGICAL LEAP

From the old factory to the new UBS

The difference between the old unit and the new factory is not just one of scale—it’s a paradigm shift. Where before there was a closed, mechanical system limited to corn, today an almost entirely automated, modular, and multicultural infrastructure operates.

TECHNOLOGY PARTNER

Brazilian technology, Angolan training.

This advancement was made possible thanks to the incorporation of Brazilian technology, notably Silomax, which was responsible for the complete installation of the new factory and the technical training of the teams. Today, our own professionals fully master the system — including the operating software — and contribute to the training of new technicians, reinforcing national human capacity.

Complementary Infrastructure

Beyond the seeds, a complete post-harvest chain.

UBS is the centerpiece of Jardins da Yoba, but the post-harvest operation extends to other infrastructures that support the conservation, treatment, and valorization of the remaining agricultural production—fruits, vegetables, and crops such as potatoes.

Storage

Controlled capacity

Silos and warehouses with temperature, humidity and ventilation management, designed to preserve production in optimal conditions between harvest and sale.

Conservation

Conservação refrigerada

Refrigerated storage infrastructure for temperature-sensitive products, extending the shelf life of fruits, vegetables, and perishable goods destined for different marketing channels.

Drying Chamber

Humidity control

Drying equipment with precise temperature and ventilation control. Ensures that the seed reaches the required moisture level for safe storage and maintenance of germination capacity.

Potato Selection and Processing Line

Washing, sorting and preparation

Dedicated line for potato processing: washing, soil removal, size sorting, and preparation for delivery to distribution channels. Ensures batch uniformity and the presentation required by the market.

Expanding

Placeholder

The processing infrastructure at Jardins da Yoba is continuously expanding. New units will be integrated into this chain to meet production growth.
